Our management team is comprised of dedicated, call driven and result proven collaborators. Our experience includes wide-ranging fields from education, health care, behavioral science, social services, accounting, development, marketing, operations, and administration.

 

Sr. Stephanie Flynn, SSJ

,

Chair of Board

Sister Stephanie was born in Massachusetts and is one of six children born to John and Patricia Flynn. She began her teaching career in Miami. At that time, she was a member of the Teresian Association, a lay Association. After visiting the Dominican Republic, Sister felt called to work with the Haitians in Miami. She began teaching at St. Mary Cathedral School in 1991 where she met the Sisters of St. Joseph. Drawn to the charism of the Sisters and sensing a strong call to consecrated life, she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Augustine on August 15, 1993. After completing her formation, Sister was missioned to Orlando (St. Charles) and then to St. James School in Miami where she was principal.

Sister holds a Master’s degree from St. Thomas University and a Specialist degree in Education from Barry University. She has served in Catholic Schools for over 35 years, having worked with the Haitian community for over 25 years. Sister serves on the Board of Trustees (Mercy Hospital, Miami). She serves as a Councilor on the Sisters of St. Joseph Leadership Team and as Canonical Treasurer of the Congregation.

Kristin Paul,

Executive Director

Kristin Paul, a passionate advocate for empowering young single working mothers, serves as the Executive Director for the St. Joseph Neighborhood Center. With a Master's Degree in Finance from the University of Alabama, Kristin combines her financial expertise with a heartfelt commitment to community service. 

Kristin is also an award-winning author, addressing social issues that impact women. Her books extend beyond storytelling, creating a platform for dialogue and awareness surrounding the challenges faced by young women. She has spoken to numerous organizations about the difficulties young women experience. 

Kristin looks forward to the St. Joseph Neighborhood Center's growth, envisioning it as a hub for support, driving positive change and impacting the lives of young single working mothers in the community. 

Sr. Suzan Foster, SSJ Program Director

In June 2022, Sister Suzan Foster retired from St. Joseph Academy after an impressive 50 years as a Catholic educator in Florida. A native of St. Augustine and a graduate of St. Joseph Academy, she professed her final vows in 1972. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in 1973 and a Master of Religious Education from St. Meinrad School of Theology in 1979. After five years in Catholic grade schools, she began her secondary education career at Bishop Kenny High School, where she served for 20 years before returning to her alma mater as Assistant Principal for another 25 years.

In July 2022, Sister Suzan joined the St. Joseph Neighborhood Center as Director of Programs, where she passionately develops and implements educational initiatives for young single mothers, embodying the Sisters of St. Joseph's charism of "being the face of love." She sets program goals aligned with the strategic objectives of each Cohort member, providing emotional support, spiritual guidance, tutoring, and practical solutions to help these mothers achieve their career aspirations. Additionally, she serves as a Councilor on the Sisters of St. Joseph Leadership Team.

Katherine L. Eberst, Operations Manager

Katherine L. Eberst is a dedicated Operations Manager and Executive Assistant with a passion for leadership and community service. She holds a summa cum laude Bachelor's degree in Communications with a minor in Public Relations from Kean University and is also a certified Paralegal. Katherine’s entrepreneurial journey began with opening her own salon, where she honed her skills in business management, client relations, and staff development over nearly a decade.

Katherine has been a licensed EMT, responding to emergencies and providing critical care, fueled by her deep compassion for others. She has also volunteered with local organizations, including Fulfill and Soul Kitchen.

At the St. Joseph Neighborhood Center, Katherine manages daily operations, ensuring the program runs smoothly while supporting single mothers in achieving their career goals and enhancing their work/life balance. She is dedicated to making a positive impact in the community.

Cherl Lee,

Case Manager & Catholic Charities Partner

With a background in social work and now as a Case Manager at St. Joseph Neighborhood Center, Cherl is driven by a profound sense of purpose. Her mission is to empower single mothers, guiding them through healing, recovery and self-esteem building. Through small groups, one-on-one counseling, and prayer sessions, Cherl fosters a community where women can believe, succeed, and achieve their goals despite past hardships and challenges. As Case Manager, Cherl also enjoys assisting those who need help in achieving educational goals such as, GED, Career Certification, or a College degree.

She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership at Oakland University. Beyond her professional pursuits, Cherl finds joy in her faith, cherishing moments spent attending church and traveling alongside her loving husband, Ron. She treasures quality time with her beautiful children, grandchildren, and cherished friends, grounding herself in the love and support of her close-knit circle.

Frank D. Castillo

CFO

Frank Castillo joined the organization after more than six years as an executive in the non-profit sector in Northeast Florida and more than 25 years of financial and administrative experience in the private sector where he specialized in helping struggling and emerging companies in Silicon Valley and in Northern Florida succeed.

His commitment to the mission of the St. Joseph Neighborhood Center is rooted in his belief that we have a moral and ethical responsibility to empower young single mothers to achieve economic independence to help them thrive in work and life.

Castillo currently serves as the Finance and Operations Administrator for the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Augustine. He received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California. He also received a Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary in Oviedo, Florida

Phyllis Croucher

Mission Advancement Director

Phyllis Croucher is dedicated to advancing the vision and mission of the St. Joseph Neighborhood Center through development efforts that engage constituents and strengthen community relationships. With 25 years of experience in marketing and fundraising, she oversees the copy, design, and implementation of successful multi-channel campaigns, including events that inspire donor engagement.

As the Director of Mission Advancement, Phyllis partners with leadership to create and execute a comprehensive mission advancement program. Her work encompasses major gift solicitation, direct mail campaigns, capital fundraising, grant research and writing, special events, social media marketing, planned giving, and the management of all development-related activities. Through her efforts, Phyllis strives to enhance the impact of the Sisters of St. Joseph in the community.
