St. Joseph Neighborhood Center is a mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Augustine. The St. Joseph Neighborhood Center (SJNC) offers a program tailored to young, single working mothers seeking career advancement and a healthier work/life balance. This initiative guides participants along a career trajectory by equipping them with essential skills and certifications.

At SJNC, our emphasis is on the Four Pillars: Fulfillment, Self-Image, Love of Child, and Relationships. Focusing on these aspects improves the participants’ quality of life, cultivating reliable workers with foundational skills that yield immediate benefits in their jobs.

SJNC aims to collaborate with local business owners interested in crafting personalized job Externships for young single mothers. By providing on-the-job training and opportunities for career progression, these women are motivated to excel—a phenomenon we have observed firsthand.

While some employers may harbor reservations about hiring young single mothers due to their challenging circumstances, SJNC addresses this concern. Our role is to offer the necessary support, helping them develop essential techniques, mindfulness strategies, and overall life skills to establish and maintain stability in their homes. This stability, in turn, translates into a positive impact in their work environments. Participants receive ongoing support during and after program completion.
